Breeding and moulting
periods are productive periods during which the youngsters are
raised and new feathers are formed. This creates a high
nutritional demand. Therefore, during breeding and moulting
periods, seed eating birds require a good mixture of seeds
together with CéDé Eggfood, ideally forming 1/4 of their daily
food ration. The correct quantity of food per day is an important
factor for the adequate absorption of seeds and eggfood alike.
In this way an imbalance of nutrition is avoided. The resting
period is a time of maintenance and makes less demand on feeding.
This does not mean, however, that our birds don't need nutrition.
Because there is a reduced demand for some nutrients at this time,
it is sufficient to add CéDé Eggfood as 1/4 of the day's ration
yet now only 2 to 3 times a week. In this way, the birds receive
sufficient high quality animal protein for maintaining body cells,
as well as vitamins and minerals for good digestion and
metabolism. Vitamins and minerals are necessary nutrients only
required in small doses. Vitamins and minerals are contained
in the finest possible particles in CéDé Eggfood, this ensures
equal
distribution within the mixture.
CéDé Eggfood contains all vitamins in the correct proportions.
If, according to directions, the birds receive CéDé Eggfood as 1/4
of their daily ration, it is unnecessary to supplement any extra
vitamins in whatever form to healthy birds. By the breeder adding
vitamins, particularly fat-soluble vitamins, this can lead to
large reserves building up in the liver and causing damage.
Therefore, never add vitamins to CéDé Eggfood being fed to healthy
birds. Only on a Veterinarian's advice should any special vitamin
treatment be given. The vitamins contained in CéDé are guaranteed
until the date indicated at the bottom of the packet ('use
before'), provided the product is stored in a cool and dry place.
Moisture and high temperatures will reduce the effectiveness of
the vitamins. It is, therefore, advisable to buy CéDé Eggfood in
smaller sealed foil packs if you only use small
amounts, particularly during the resting period. In order to
ensure good ingestion of CéDé Eggfood, it is advisable to mix the
feed with a little water to obtain a crumbly mixture.
